South Hill Centre is a charity located in the heart of Hemel Hempstead. SHC was established by South Hill Church and registered as a charity in February 2004

The Church has a long history of initiating and maintaining community focused programmes, in the community for the community.

In 2006 SHC acquired land adjacent the original Church site to develop a campus capable of meeting the needs of a developing charity.

This new multi-purpose facility will enable SHC to further develop its provision of :-
- More accessible life skills, parenting, English  language and basic computer training
- Financial advice and support
- Improved and expanded activities for the elderly
- Holiday and out of school homework club provision for young children
- Improve provision for youth
- Organisation of Community events

Plans were produced and planning permision granted for a two phased development. The first phase, to build a purpose built Early Years Children's Centre to provide a permanent home for the long established Young Discoverers Pre-school. This unit was also designed to include a facility for Heath Lane Nursery Children's Club.

A fund raising initiative was established and our children's centre was opened in September 2006.

The second phase of this development involved the demolition of the church building to make way for the new state of the art Centre.

Although fund raising continues for this development, the charity Directors have committed to the completion of this final phase which is due to be completed in September 2008'

The new centre will considerably extend the charity's operation within the local community and beyond. It will also provide a replacement home for South Hill Church.
